lessons to last a lifetime
"Reflecting on the experience of COVID-19, I will not forget the daily disruption, tragedy and fear juxtaposed with the courage, resilience, inspiration and hope."

The last school year presented hardships unlike any other and taught us lessons that will last a lifetime. Despite it all, I watched proudly as students persevered and teachers adapted. Our incredible CMS staff leaned in and got busy bundling meals, distributing Chromebooks, and as they returned to schools managing PPE, sanitizing school buildings and cleaning buses to give our students every opportunity to continue learning regardless of the setting.
So many community partners came together offering support to help our students and CMS families. As much as it was difficult to see the great need in our CMS community, it was a valuable reminder that we cannot do this alone. We must work together.
Reflecting on the experience of COVID-19, I will not forget the daily disruption, tragedy and fear juxtaposed with the courage, resilience, inspiration and hope.
As the many CMS graduates walked across the stage, I was proud to celebrate with them and share in their achievements. The Class of 2021 taught me about commitment to success in the face of uncertainty. Looking into the smiling faces of those promising young students ignited my optimism for the future of us all.
Life is a journey; the path is unpredictable. Yet even when confronted with adversity, good things are possible, and we will prevail.
That is a lesson I will take with me.
